HMK Interpreter, 2011.
The HMK Interpreter is a small guide, made for visitors of Hotel Maria Kapel, an art space in the Netherlands. It tells them what they need to know—the history, the mission, a bit about contemporary art.
The guide questions itself. What helps? What doesn’t? Maybe what’s useless matters more than what’s useful.
When shown in the gallery, the HMK Interpreter was placed on an info table with adverts and pamphlets—not a real info table, but one made to look like one. Like the guide itself.
